My Story

When I saw situations where leadership was needed, I tended to back away, thinking that other people were more experienced, better equipped, had better skills or whatever!
One of my father’s friends suggested that I enroll in a Dale Carnegie Leadership course to help me learn some skills. He didn’t say this, but now I know this to be true: Learning skills builds confidence, and skills is what I needed to learn.

As a personnel manager I interviewed potential hires for my company. We were experiencing a shortage of proficient word processing typists, so I asked my manager if I could teach a Saturday class on how to use a word processor. In a matter of a few weeks we had the typists that we needed.
